Iraq Orders MBT Transporters From U.S.

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Iraq Army intends to receive main battle tank
transporters from the United States.
The Iraqi Defense Ministry has ordered a heavy equipment transporter for
the army's T-72 MBT fleet. The U.S. firm, Navistar Defense, has won a
contract to provide a heavy equipment transporter and trailer combination as
well as spare parts.
Under the $11 million contract, Navistar Defense would expand its
military vehicle portfolio with a new application based on its International
5000 Series platform. The U.S. Army contract stipulated that the company
begin production immediately.
