ANKARA [MENL] -- Bahrain and Turkey have signed an accord to launch security
cooperation.
The security clause was one of several in a wide-ranging cooperation
agreement reached between Ankara and Manama. The agreement was signed on
Aug. 4 during the visit to Turkey by Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Issa Al
Khalifa.
"The main goal is to preserve peace, stability and prosperity in the
region," a joint statement said.
Officials said the security cooperation accord would focus on efforts
against Al Qaida and related insurgency groups. They said the two countries
would also battle organized crime and money-laundering.
