GAZA CITY [MENL] -- A leading Palestinian militia has warned of renewed war
with Israel.
The Hamas-aligned Popular Resistance Committees said war with Israel
could be renewed by Sept. 1 unless the Jewish state agrees to reopen the
border with the Gaza Strip. PRC said the Hamas regime and other militias --
restrained by a ceasefire that began on June 19 -- were preparing for major
attacks against Israel.
"It has until the end of the 10th week [of the ceasefire], and if they
do not abide by the obligations of calm, politicians will stop talking and
military men will act," PRC military commander Abu Mujahed said.
[On Aug. 9, Palestinian gunners fired a Kassam-class, short-range
missile into Israel. There were no reports of injuries or significant
damage.]
