ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkish shipyards have been rocked by a new spate of lethal
accidents.
At least six shipyard workers have been killed in accidents in civilian
and military shipyards in August 2008. Turkish shipyards have been
criticized for poor safety conditions.
On Aug. 11, four workers were killed and 12 others were injured at
Tuzla. The shipyard union said 16 workers fell into the sea when the ropes
of a ship snapped at Tuzla's Gisan Shipyard.
