Canada Leases Israel-Origin UAV
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Canadian military has ordered the services of an
Israeli-origin unmanned aerial vehicle system.
The Canadian National Defence Department has awarded a $95 million
contract for the leasing of the Heron medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV.
The UAV, manufactured by the state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries, was
leased by Canada's MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates.
"This contract is a major milestone in MDA's strategy to become a
significant contributor in the growing Canadian and worldwide UAV
surveillance market," MDA vice president David Hargreaves said.
