PA DOESN'T HAVE INDUSTRY FOR AAMs

LONDON [MENL] -- The Palestinian Authority, despite a range of rockets andground-to-ground missiles, has failed to establish the infrastructurerequired to develop anti-aircraft systems. Industry sources said that neither the PA nor Palestinian insurgencygroups have the equipment and expertise to develop credible surface-to-airmissiles. The sources said that the Palestinian acquisition of Soviet-originSA-7 missiles would not provide the Palestinians with indigenousmanufacturing capability.
