Saudis Order AEW Radars
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia has ordered advanced radars for the air
force's airborne early-warning and alert fleet.
The U.S. Defense Department has awarded a $42 million contract to Boeing
for the installation of advanced radars on the AEW fleet of the Royal Saudi
Air Force. Officials said the contract was part of the Radar System
Improvement Program for the air force's five Airborne Warning and Control
System, or AWACS, platforms.
"This action will provide the Radar System Improvement Program
capability to be installed on five Royal Saudi Air Force AWACS jets," the
Pentagon said on Aug. 7. "This effort supports foreign military sales to
kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
