Turkey Launches Sub Talks With HDW

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has launched negotiations with a leading European
consortium for the procurement of six advanced submarines.
Turkey's Defense Industry Undersecretariat has begun talks with
Germany's Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft and Britain's Maritime Force
International for six Type-214 air independent propulsion submarines.
Officials said the European consortium has agreed to build the subs at the
Turkish Navy shipyard at Golcuk in a $4 billion deal.
