Major Western Exec Resigns Amid Egyptian Bribery

LONDON [MENL] -- A major European defense executive has resigned amid
allegations of bribing Egypt to purchase advanced artillery systems.
Jorma Wiitakorpi has resigned as chief executive officer of Finland's
Patria amid an investigation into alleged bribery in Egypt and Slovenia. The
allegations concern two of Patria's former subsidiaries accused of bribing
Egyptian Defense Ministry officials to purchase an artillery system in the
late 1990s. Cairo did not buy the system.
