LEBANON STRUGGLES WITH WEAPONS SMUGGLING

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Lebanon has been struggling with increased weaponssmuggling by Al Qaida-aligned groups. Lebanese officials said the weapons smuggling has stemmed from Syria andmeant to arm Palestinian groups, including those linked to Al Qaida. Theysaid the Lebanese Army has been placed on alert for the prospect that theweapons would be used against the government of Prime Minister Fuad Sinioraor Israel.
