U.S. ARMY SELECTS APS FOR 2008
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. Army has rejected an Israeli operationalsystem for an American competitor that won't be ready until 2010. Army officials said the service has selected Raytheon's ActiveProtective System to defend against rocket-propelled grenades and otherprojectiles that threaten U.S. combat vehicles. They said APS would beintroduced by the end of 2008 as part of the Future Combat Systems program.Industry sources said the system would not be fully operational until 2010.
