ISRAEL SAID TO HAVE DENIED U.S. KEY DOCUMENT
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel was said to have denied the United States a key document that could clarify the role of former U.S. Navy analyst Jonathan Pollard, sentenced to life for relaying classified information to the Jewish state. A suit by Pollard to Israel's High Court said successive governments have withheld a report that detailed the documents he supplied to Israel in 1983 and 1984. The petition, submitted on May 1, blamed former Israeli intelligence agency chief Rafael Eitan -- appointed minister in the new government of Prime Minister-designate Ehud Olmert -- for the refusal.
