QUIETLY, ISRAEL WRITES OFF U.S. STRIKE ON IRAN

JERUSALEM [MENL] -- Israel has lowered its hopes of a U.S. strike on Iran. Government sources said Israel's military and intelligence communitydoes not expect the Bush administration to order a U.S. strike on Iran overthe next year. The sources said the Israeli assessment determined thatPresident George Bush would be deterred by insufficient U.S. intelligence aswell as declining popular support.
