LONDON [MENL] -- Oman has ordered military vehicles from Italy.
The Royal Guard of Oman has ordered six combat platforms from Iveco
Defense Vehicles, based in Bolzano, Italy. The platform was identified as
the Centauro armored combat vehicle.
The Centauro 8x8 vehicle, developed in partnership with Italy's Oto
Melara, contains a 120 mm gun and was said to have firepower comparable to
the German-origin Leopard-2 main battle tank. Executives said Iveco would
deliver the Centauro to Oman by mid-2009.
