IRAQ SOUGHT TO PRODUCE 81 mm ROCKETS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iraq appears to have convinced the United Nations thatBaghdad's attempt to procure high-strength aluminium tubes was connected toa program to produce 81 mm rockets. The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iraq had sought toimport the tubes over the last two years. Britain and the United States haveasserted that the attempted procurement was meant to facilitiate an Iraqiprogram to build centrifuges for the enrichment of uranium required fornuclear weapons.
