PALESTINIAN INSURGENTS USE U.S. WEAPONS

RAMALLAH [MENL] -- Palestinian insurgents have begun using U.S.-made assaultrifles because of the high cost of ammunition for their AK-47 Kalashnikovweapons. Palestinian sources said insurgents from the ruling Fatah movement ledby Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat have begun procuring M-16rifles. They said the M-16 is more readily available than the Kalashnikovand ammunition for the U.S.-made weapon is far cheaper.
