IRAQ RESISTS U.S. ADVANCE TOWARD BAGHDAD

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iraq has demonstrated increasing resistance against theadvance of allied forces toward Baghdad. U.S. military officials said Iraqi forces have in many cases abandonedtheir initial bunker mentality and are engaging British and U.S. infantryand armored units moving north along the Euphrates River. They said theresistance includes units of the regular Iraqi army as well as the eliteRepublican Guard.
