BRITAIN DEPLOYS MINESWEEPERS IN GULF

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Britain has deployed six minesweepers in the PersianGulf to ensure shipping amid the U.S.-led war against Iraq. The minesweepers are meant to detect and clear Iraqi mines placed inshipping lanes used by Gulf Arab allies of Britain and the United States.Iraq scattered mines in the Gulf during the 1991 war with the United States.
