U.S. STUDIES PATRIOT MISSILE SYSTEM MISHAPS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. Army has launched an examination of breakdownsin the Patriot missile defense system. The examination seeks to determine why the PAC-2 and PAC-3 systems havemistaken friendly aircraft for enemy missiles. Patriot missile defensebatteries in Kuwait and Iraq have twice locked their sights on alliedfighter-jets, identifying them as incoming Iraqi missiles.
