IRAQ SEEKS TO SPLINTER SADDAM OPPOSITION

BAGHDAD [MENL] -- The interim government in Iraq has launched a campaign tosplinter the opposition loyal to Saddam Hussein. Iraqi officials said the government of Prime Minister Iyad Alawi plansto meet Saddam operatives over the next few weeks to discuss the prospect ofsharing power in any new post-Saddam regime. They said the meeting wouldseek to persuade former leaders of the Baath Party that they could beparticipate in a democratic Iraq.
