AFRICAN TROOPS ARRIVE IN DARFOUR

CAIRO [MENL] -- After months of delay, the United States has begunairlifting African Union troops to Sudan's rebel-torn Darfour province. Over the last week, U.S. military aircraft have brought troops fromNigeria and Rwanda as part of an effort to stabilize the western Sudaneseprovince. The troops were among 3,320 peace-keepers of the African Unionmeant to enforce a ceasefire declared in April.
