SMB TRANSFERS ASSETS TO OTHER UAE FIRMS

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- SMB Computers, regarded as the clearing-house fornuclear weapons components by a Pakistani-based network, has transferred itsassets to other companies in the United Arab Emirates. UAE officials said the government has taken action against theDubai-based SMB in wake of U.S. evidence that linked the company toPakistani government scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, head of the nuclearsmuggling network that sold components, centrifuges and technology to Iran,Libya and North Korea. They said the evidence demonstrated SMB's role as aclearinghouse for orders from a range of states for illegal nuclearcomponents.
