Turkey Purchases S-300 To Monitor Greece
ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has decided to purchase the Russian-origin S-300 air
defense system as part of an effort to track neighboring Greece.
Industry sources said Turkey's Defense Industry Undersecretariat, or
SSM, plans to order three S-300 systems from Belarus and Ukraine. The
sources said the surplus S-300 systems would be used to help track Greece's
use of its S-300 inventory.
"With the knowledge of the S-300, Turkey could track and foil operations
of similar systems in neighboring states," an industry source said.
