ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has given Israel until the end of 2009 to deliver
advanced unmanned aerial vehicles that meet military requirements.
Officials said the government of Prime Minister Recep Erdogan has warned
that Turkey could cancel the contract with Israel for the Heron UAVs unless
all systems were delivered by 2010. They said the Defense Industry
Undersecretariat, or SSM, was pressing for the termination of the Heron
contract, marred by numerous delays and technical obstacles.
