WASHINGTON [MENL] -- For the first time, Israel and the United States plan
to jointly produce and procure missile and rocket defense systems.
Officials said the two countries have signed an accord that would
jointly develop, produce and procure systems that could protect against
medium-range rockets. They said the United States would finance up to 80
percent of the project.
"We wanted a truly co-managed program because the United States will be
very interested in this for our own purposes," Missile Defense Agency
director Henry Obering said.
