Iran Bolsters Hizbullah's No. 2
NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran has transferred responsibility from Hizbullah
secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah to his deputy.
Lebanese opposition sources said Nasrallah has lost control of the
Hizbullah militia to his deputy, Naim Kassem. In 2008, the sources said,
Iran decided to reduce Nasrallah's authority in wake of Hizbullah's
offensive against the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora in
May 2008.
"Unlike Nasrallah, Kassem is completely loyal to Iran and this is what
is required today in Hizbullah," an opposition source said.
