WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Congress has demanded that the administration of
President Barack Obama demonstrate a tougher policy toward Turkey.
Leading members of Congress have expressed concern that Turkey was
drifting away from the United States and NATO and toward such adversaries as
Iran and Syria. They said Obama, regarded as close to Prime Minister Recep
Erdogan, has refused to take a position regarding Turkey's alliance with
Iran and Hamas as well as Ankara's hostility toward Israel.
