MOSCOW [MENL] -- Russia has rejected a Syrian request for the long-range
Iskander rocket.
Russian sources said Moscow has decided not to sell the Iskander rocket
to Damascus. The sources said the government of Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin has determined that Iskander was an offensive system that could change
the strategic balance in the Middle East.
"Putin told Assad recently that Iskander was not ready for export," the
source said.
