ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has developed systems to foil improvised explosive
device attacks.
Turkey's Gate Elektronik has developed a family of anti-IED systems for
the military and police. Executives said the company has focused marketing
efforts toward the military of Turkey as well as other regional states.
The systems have been based on the use of radio waves to jam
remote-controlled IEDs, including those used in Iraq. Turkey has also faced
an increasing IED threat from the Kurdish Workers Party, based in northern
Iraq.
