WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Syria has become increasingly concerned over the rise
of the Iranian-sponsored Hizbullah in Lebanon, a report said.
The report by the U.S. consultant Stratfor asserted that Syria was
trying to balance its alliance with Iran with that of Saudi Arabia.
Authored by Reva Bhalla, the report said Syria, seeking exoneration from
allegations that it ordered the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik
Hariri, has assured Riyad that Damascus would block any Hizbullah takeover
of Lebanon.
