Israeli Firms Battle Over APS Project
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Two of Israel's largest defense companies have been
battling for what could be a major project to protect the army's main battle
tank fleet.
Industry sources said the state-owned Israel Military Industries has
been competing with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for a contract to
install active protection systems on armored personnel carriers and main
battle tanks. They said Rafael has undermined an IMI project to install its Iron
Fist system on the new Namer APC.
