Russia Remains Syria's Top Arms Supplier

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Russia, despite warm relations with Israel, continues
to be the leading military supplier to Syria, a report said.
The Congressional Research Service asserted that the Kremlin has
maintained close military and strategic cooperation with Damascus despite
Russia's aim to expand relations throughout the Middle East. CRS, in a
report titled "Syria: Issues for the 112th Congress," said Russia and Syria
have been working on major arms deals that would help modernize the military
of the Arab League state.
