U.S. Increases Security Aid Amid PA Torture

LONDON [MENL] -- The U.S. government has expanded security assistance to the
Palestinian Authority despite its concern over torture by security forces in
the West Bank.
An official PA document released by Qatar's A-Jazeera satellite channel
disclosed that the administration of President Barack Obama significantly
increased security aid to the PA despite concerns over widespread abuse in
West Bank prisons. The head of the U.S. security program expressed
satisfaction with the performance of PA intelligence forces and reported
significant increases in his budget for 2009 and 2010.
