Leader Of Al Qaida Network Reported Killed
NICOSIA [MENL] -- The leader of a Syrian-sponsored Al Qaida-aligned network
was said to have been killed.
Fatah Al Islam, which operates in Lebanon and Syria, has acknowledged
that its commander was believed to have been captured or killed in Syria. In
a statement, the organization said it has named a successor to commander
Shaker Al Absi, a Palestinian regarded as close to the late Al Qaida in Iraq
chief Abu Mussib Al Zarqawi.
"Up to this moment, we have no knowledge, even though we are inclined to
think they died," Fatah Al Islam said in a statement. "Yet, we have no
evidence that proves this matter to us."
