TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel Air Force has launched an effort to upgrade the
avionics in its fighter-jet fleet.
Officials said the air force wants to install a common avionics
configuration in its fleet of F-15 and F-16 combat aircraft. They said the
upgrade, envisioned as taking five years, would enable interoperability as
well as the development of a comprehensive command and control system.
"We want to increase the number of systems," Lt. Col. Yariv Haser, head
of the air force's avionics department, said. "We want to increase the pace
of replacing subsystems."
