BAGHDAD [MENL] -- Despite recent U.S. assessments, Iran continues to
maintain a major intelligence presence in neighboring Iraq.
Officials said Iran's Islamic Republic Guards Corps has been sustaining
a large intelligence network in Iraq. They said IRGC's Quds Force has been
recruiting and training Shi'ites and Sunnis for operations against the
U.S.-led coalition and the government of Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki.
"Activity is down, but recruitment and training by IRGC continues," an
official said.
