ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has decided in principle to purchase attack
helicopters from Russia.
Turkish sources said the government of Prime Minister Recep Erdogan
would procure up to two squadrons of helicopters from Moscow. The sources
identified the platform as the Mi-28 attack helicopter, manufactured by
Rostvertol.
"This is a stop-gap measure as the United States does not have
helicopters to sell us," a Turkish source said.
