GCC Looks To Improve U.S. Ties Under Obama
ABU DHABI [MENL] -- The Gulf Cooperation Council has sought to improve
military cooperation under the incoming administration of President-elect
Barack Obama.
Saudi Arabia, the leading member of the GCC, sponsored a strategic
session between the United States and Gulf Arab states. The two-day meeting,
which ended on Jan. 7, brought together diplomats and military analysts from
both the GCC and the United States.
"It is essential that there is transparency with regards to the future
of U.S.-Gulf relations under the President-elect's administration," Saad Al
Ammar, director-general of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, linked to
the Saudi Foreign Ministry, said.
