ABU DHABI [MENL] -- The UAE and Singapore have signed a security cooperation
accord.
The two Asian states have signed a memorandum of understanding for
security cooperation. Officials said the agreement would link the interior
ministries of Singapore and the UAE.
The MoU was meant to promote cooperation between the UAE and the
Singaporean Police Force. Under the accord, Singapore would help train UAE
police and security forces and introduce advanced technology for anti-crime
operations.
The UAE has sought to battle rising street and white collar crime, most
of it stemming from the huge expatriate population. Singapore has been cited
as a model of internal security.
