Gulf Arabs Finance Assad Revolt
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Gulf Arabs have been identified as the leading
financiers of the revolt against Syrian President Bashar Assad.
A leading Syrian opposition figure has reported that wealthy residents
of Gulf Cooperation Council states were financing the procurement of
increasingly advanced weapons for the rebel army in Syria. Reform Party of
Syria president Farid Ghadry said the Gulf money has been paying for the
acquisition and deployment of advanced anti-tank guided missiles that have
already knocked out Russian-origin main battle tanks off the Syrian Army.
