Iraq Unprepared To Manage Arms Programs
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iraq, said to be ridden by corruption, remains
incapable of managing a major weapons program.
The U.S. Defense Department said the Iraqi government has failed to
administer weapons programs and continues to rely on American
administrators. In its quarterly report released in January 2009, the
Pentagon said the Iraqi Defense Ministry has been unable to process the
billions of dollars in military equipment orders under the U.S. Foreign
Military Sales program.
