UAE Only Arab Combat Force In Afghan

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United Arab Emirates continues to be the only Arab
League contributor of combat troops to the NATO-led stabilization mission in
Afghanistan.
Officials said the UAE military has maintained a 250-soldier contingent
in Afghanistan despite unrest and threat of attacks. The UAE force was
operating under the NATO umbrella in southern Afghanistan, particularly the
Uruzgan province.
