Bin Laden's Son Leaves Iran
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- A son of Al Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden has left Iran
for Pakistan.
Saad Bin Laden, regarded as a senior figure in Al Qaida, left Iran after
a stay of more than five years. Officials said the 26-year-old Bin Laden
departed from Iran in September 2008 and crossed into neighboring Pakistan.
"He is probably in Pakistan," U.S. National Intelligence director
Michael McConnell said. "But he's left Iran."
In a briefing on Jan. 16, McConnell refused to say how Bin Laden left
Iran. The intelligence director did not indicate whether Bin Laden escaped
or was released by Iranian authorities after years of being under house arrest.
