CAIRO [MENL] -- Algeria plans to reorganize its intelligence community in an
effort to enhance the war against Al Qaida.
Officials said the reorganization would be overseen by the Interior
Ministry, responsible for the security forces. They said the ministry would
begin with the General Security Directorate, regarded as the second most
powerful security agency in Algeria.
"This is a critical step to improve intelligence capabilities," an
official said.
