EU Grants Major Power Loan To Syria
LONDON [MENL] -- The European Union has approved a major loan for power
development in Syria.
FEMIP, the European Investment Bank's financial arm for the
Mediterranean, has granted a 275 million euro loan to Syria to enlarge Deir
Ali-1, one of the country's main power stations. Officials said the loan
would be used for the construction of a 750 megawatt natural gas-fired
combined cycle power plant 25 kilometers south of Damascus.
