Israeli UAV Leased For War In Afghanistan
LONDON [MENL] -- Another NATO member has leased an Israeli unmanned aerial
vehicle for the war in Afghanistan.
Israel's Aeronautics Defense Systems has been awarded a tender to supply
a UAV system for the Netherlands. Under the contract, which was not
announced, the Israeli-origin UAV would be leased to the Dutch Army for its
current mission in Afghanistan.
Industry sources said Aeronautics would send a tactical UAV to replace
the French-origin Sperwer platform, manufactured by Sagem. They said the
move would take place by March 2009.
