AMMAN [MENL] -- The Gulf Cooperation Council has not yet determined the
status of Jordan.
Officials said the six-member GCC has been negotiating the prospect of
ascendancy for the Hashemite kingdom. They said GCC delegations have offered
Jordan several options, which range from defense and military cooperation to
a status that falls short of full membership.
