CAIRO [MENL] -- Tunisia's Islamist government has approved a crackdown on
the Al Qaida-aligned Salafist movement.
Officials said the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi has
ordered the arrest of organizers of violent Salafist protests and other
attacks in the Tunis region. They said nearly 200 people have been arrested
since June 12 amid clashes that forced authorities to impose a curfew around
the capital.
