Israeli Competes Against Govt. Firms

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- The president of Israel's most successful private defense
contractor has retired.
On Aug. 13, Joseph Ackerman has offered his resignation after 16 years
as president of Elbit Systems. The 63-year-old Ackerman demonstrated that a
private Israeli contractor could compete with much larger state-owned
companies for national and foreign military projects.
