Hamas Pledges Salafist Crackdown
GAZA CITY [MENL] -- The Hamas regime has pledged to crack down on the Al
Qaida presence in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas security sources said Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh relayed plans
to Egypt for the arrest of scores of suspected Al Qaida-aligned fighters in
the Gaza Strip. They said the crackdown marked a pledge by Hamas to
cooperate with Egypt in border security in wake of the killing of 16
Egyptian soldiers on Aug. 5.
